The Eldar: Craftworld Ulthwé

Another age ago and these would have been considered the Masters of the Galaxy, but alas; such is the time or tide of an ocean; there are rises and falls - and all things come to an end. 

As one of my absolute favourite factions for Warhammer: 40,000, the Eldar were brought into my limelight with the release of a certain codex; and it meant that they truly were the Masters of the Galaxy again, even if it were a little too much! 

For Christmas of 2021, Croydon bought me the Eldar Phantom Titan (along with the T’au Manta)* and it meant that there was no way that this project was going to be left on the back-burner as it had since last 2018. 

Before I started clearing through the backlog however, I had to discern what it was that put these awesome miniatures into their box and onto a shelf, and where I could take them now that would prevent this from occurring again, and the answer was simple: getting a beautiful army painted to a decent enough degree that I would be happy to play them on the tabletop. 

So it meant I was back to the drawing board, and I would need to explore what colour scheme I’d be happy to paint. Whilst I love painting a lot of my armies in a grimdark fashion - I didn’t feel it fitting for the Eldar. One thing I’ve found enjoyable to paint is a black scheme, what with the thousands of points of Dark Angels and the Titans all having a splash of black here and there; I knew my way around making black look good enough for my liking - and the rest they say, is history…
