The Dagon-Mora Campaign is due to start in June 2021!

The War for Terminus

With each passing battle the War on Terminus gets closer to the beating heart of the Dagon-Mora system.

The war on Terminus has reached the most crucial moments, the traitor forces have advanced through the Dagon-Mora System and have made planetfall on the centre planet of the system. As it stands, it is unclear as to who will emerge victorious at this stage.

Below is the account of the battles won and lost, from the tabletops of Strategic Painting.

-The War for Terminus-

Prologue

In a branch of twisted possibilities upon the ever-changing tides of nothingness, something treacherous and disastrous works its twisted fingers through time and eventualities that may (or may never) come to pass. This power of the void watches in delight and splendour as its alternative events and the puppets of its interventions fight in an all out war on a single planet in a distant galaxy.

From the last meeting of the Master of Mankind and his Primarch-Son; Magnus, there was an offer of forgiveness, of redemption and of salvation. As documented by the scholar of this meeting, Magnus refused the offer and embraced daemonhood. Here the warp-entity alters that timeline, instead of refusing the offer, the Primarch embraces his Father and the Thousand Sons stand with the Imperium through the rest of the Horus Heresy.

Section One: The Imperial Truth

The Imperial Truth, a battle barge of the Imperium was flying with such velocity through the warp it was clear that something was not as it should be. As many Imperial Scholars will know and be all too aware, navigation through such turbulent and uncertain routes is never as simple as travelling through the materium; and routes such as these should only be taken with great care and attentiveness. Nevertheless the mission for the passengers was such that it was vital that they undertake this danger; to work now in the benefit of the future of the Imperium.

Usual protocol for any journey through such troubling routes require a great amount of preparation, including having a sufficiently skilled Navigator onboard to accurately determine the position and strength of the Astronomican; to ensure safe and precise passage. The Navigator on the Imperial Truth had been murdered by someone unknown on the vessel only three days prior. With a culprit still loose onboard, the Thousand Sons who are in command of the Battle Barge have been searching for the perpetrator with no luck. After the second unsuccessful day, they requested that the Mechanicum onboard rally together and keep a constant guard on the essential areas. For the third day of this troublesome journey, the atmosphere felt different.

+It is onboard the Imperial Truth where the Strategic Painting Campaign begins+

Upon the decks of the Imperial Truth the crew and passengers were scrambling over consoles and pictographs of routes with points of reference designed for smoother warp-travel. The charts seemed useless with the constant cracking, thunder-rumbling and shuddering of the vessel, reminding many on board of the tales of historic wooden ships that travelled the Old Earth’s great oceans through mighty storms.  In a small Hab-room near the ships bridge, a Tribune of the Legio Custodes was studying maps of their Barge, trying to ascertain where the murderer of the Navigator could be hiding. After taking part in the searches and the inspections with the Thousand Sons, it felt unlikely that the murderer would be able to hide in such a limited space. However the perpetrator still hid, and it was this Tribune's duty to remove any threats that may face this detachment of Thousand Sons, and to deliver them safely to their destination. So the Tribune continued to inspect the maps, looking for holds and hab-rooms that hadn't been swept in their previous searches.

Without any warning a thundering crack that was louder than any before, and quite assuredly a bad omen, broke his concentration; and Atlas Sinon reached for his guardian spear. The ornately designed weapon slipped into his grip perfectly, the haft and the grips woven specifically for his hands. As Atlas gripped the spear tightly, it ignited. The spear tip lighting the Hab-room with a blue electric energy, too bright for any mortal to look directly at. He looked at the door to his room, and listened for any indication that something was indeed wrong; but he heard nothing. Atlas would have expected some movement or alarms to sound after such a loud blow to the hull, however the Barge had fallen silent.

Almost too silent...
